Amiel is a founding member of East River Commedia. She holds a BA in Comparative Literature from Columbia University. She was born in Boston, Massachusetts.
She recently returned from Slovenia where she studied on a Fullbright scholarship. Her translations include The Island of the Slaves by Pierre de Marivaux, and The Magnificent Cuckold by Fernand Crommelynck. Her projects with East River Commedia include A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Riverside Church, Striptease & Out at Sea by Slawomir Mrozek at La MaMa, Philosopher Fox by Mrozek at the Malta International Festival in Poznan, Poland, and Serenade and Philosopher Fox by Mrozek at the Collective Unconscious. She is the Co-founder and coordinator of Amnesty International Firefly Project and FELT (www.whatfelt.org).
