 In a presentation ceremony on September 19th, 2005, hosted by Charles Busch at the Lucille Lortel Theatre, East River Commedia was awarded three of the top honors of the evening at the first annual New York Innovative Theatre Awards, established to bring recognition to the estimated 40,000 artists working in the Off-Off Broadway venue. The awards are as follows:
